Sleep among the wine barrels

Our tasting hall fills three or four times a year, when we host our tastings; the rest of the year, it stands empty. That is exactly the idea we had from the start: design the space so it doubles as lodging. Above the hall, with a clear view of the oak barrels where our wine matures, we are setting up a single guest room. A bed for two, a small bathroom, a kitchen corner with the essentials. Beneath you: the barrels of Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Crémant — meaning that the very vines you see from your door, up on the Hoelt slope, end up as wine underneath your bedroom. Hikers usually arrive in the late afternoon, tired and damp; we are setting aside a drying room for boots and jackets, and breakfast can be on the table from 7:30.
